Louisville City FC announced the winner of its logo redesign contest on Sunday.
Michael Manning, 24, of New Albany is the artist behind the new soccer team’s logo, which was announced at the halftime of the U.S.-Portugal FIFA World Cup watch party at Fourth Street Live.
Manning, who worked for Noteworthy Creative Group (formally Take Note Designs Inc.) in La Grange, said the design was an “evolutionary process” that took him about six to eight hours to complete.
The design was chosen from 113 entries, and Manning was one of three finalists. The other two were Casey Cooke, 22, of Louisville and David Walker, 52, of Louisville.
With the help of social media, Louisville City FC put out a call for a new design soon after the team’s off
icial announcement on June 4. The design had to include a fleur de lis, a bourbon barrel and the color purple, among other criteria.
Manning will receive a $500 stipend, two polo shirts with the logo and two tickets to the inaugural game, according to the team’s website.
